Abstract

Background of study: Adolescent huffaz grow up amid exposure to sexist attitudes and permissive social values, yet research on how Qur'an memorization (tahfiz) supports moral resilience remains fragmented across Islamic psychology, education, and adolescent development. Aims and scope of paper: This study maps the scholarly literature on Qur'an memorization, adolescent moral resilience, sexism, and social liberalism published between 2020 and 2026, identifying dominant themes, emerging keyword clusters, and research gaps. Methods: A descriptive bibliometric design was used. Records were retrieved from academic databases, screened following PRISMA procedures, and ten studies were included in a thematic review. Keyword co-occurrence was analyzed and visualized in VOSviewer through network, overlay, and density maps. Result: The reviewed studies center on resilience, Islamic character formation, and self-regulation, emphasizing social support, religiosity, and structured tahfiz learning. None directly examined resilience against sexism or social liberalism. The keyword maps show a literature organized around adolescence, violence, sexual behavior, mental health, and gender-related themes, with recent attention shifting toward benevolent sexism, stereotyping, and discrimination. Tahfiz-related terms were not visible in these maps. Conclusion: The link between Qur'an memorization and moral resilience against sexism and liberal social pressures remains an unexamined gap and a working hypothesis. Future research should pair expanded keyword searches with comparative or longitudinal studies testing the proposed mechanisms.
